About Surrey Cyber Security Cluster

Cyber Security is one of the key strengths of Surrey’s economy.  Two of the UK’s five Gold Standard Cyber Security Universities (Royal Holloway, University of London, and University of Surrey) are in Surrey.  Surrey also hosts major industry names in cyber security: BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, Cap Gemini, F5, CGI, Cisco, and VMWare and has a strong base of small and medium sized businesses.

In recognition of cyber security being a sector of national strength, the Department for Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) working through UK Cyber Cluster Collaboration (UKC3) partners with regional cyber security clusters with the aim of supporting economic growth and skills development of the UK cyber security industry.

The Surrey Cyber Security Cluster aims to be an enabler organisation that creates the ideal conditions for the growth of cyber technology and innovation in the Surrey by facilitating connection, capacity building and collaboration. The cluster will provide expertise, an active network, and a thriving environment that will contribute to the sector’s growth.  It will promote Surrey as a premier location for cyber security businesses looking to expand and/or set up in the UK. The outcomes of the Surrey Cyber Security cluster will be an active cyber security ecosystem supporting inward investment, business growth, partnership and knowledge exchange, and skills development.  The priorities of the cluster are:

  • Strategic Priority 1: Ecosystem Development – Grow the Surrey Cyber Cluster’s membership and develop links with the wider Surrey business base
  • Strategic Priority 2: Innovation and Growth – Drive inward investment, business growth and innovation across the Surrey cyber ecosystem
  • Strategic Priority 3: Cyber Skills and Diversity & Inclusion – Position Surrey to be an attractive region to cyber professionals and students and promote diversity and inclusion in the sector.
